Giving a firm nod to accessorising at this year's Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Armani has gone out on a limb giving handbags their pride of place at the much-coveted couture event.
In a catwalk rarity, Armani has made a bold move, (with even bolder designs), as models strutted the runway showcasing their Autumn/Winter collection of handbags and clutches. With designers at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week typically focusing on the art of dress making over accessorising to illustrate their creative capabilities, Armani's couture handbag collection is a refreshing twist.
Chosen colours for this year's Armani show included gowns featured in white, black and red, and with matching handbags in tow the trend of complimenting rather than contrasting looks like it could be here to stay. Also, with many of the fashion houses opting for themes that showcased their gowns in similar shades; bright reds along with timeless black and whites can be expected to be major players for the upcoming season.
The Autumn/Winter collection for the longstanding fashion house features a range of tote handbags and clean-cut clutches that most would give their right arm for. Alongside bright colour blocking, the Armani designs include crocodile print, snakeskin, and monochrome styles. Yet it's arguably the use of sleek patent leather, detailed fastenings and sharp sophisticated lines that make these handbags far more than the couture gown's arm candy but a piece of art in its own right.
