When it comes to labels and high-end accessories it's fairly safe to say that WAG's know their stuff. From Michael Kors to Alexander McQueen there's seemingly no fashion brand that passes these women by. Perhaps that's why they're often found dipping their toes in the fashion world, featured in glossy magazines for their co-ordinated outfit triumphs and above all showcasing every known label known under the sun. Yet it's also fairly safe to say that these women are known more for purchasing handbags rather than giving them away. They have enviable wardrobes most women would give their right arms for, so imagine the cash that could be raised if their wardrobes really were up for grabs.
Leanne Brown, wife of former Manchester United player, Wes Brown, and star of the new ITV series, Real Housewives of Cheshire, headed up the WAG's charitable giving recently. And whilst the North West based ladies didn't put up their entire wardrobes for the event, all of the women dug deep when it came to finding items for the 'Once Upon a Smile' charity.
With designer dresses, heels and handbags all from lust worthy labels being offered up, it's no surprise that the recent ladies lunch held at Mottram Hall Hotel in Cheshire went down a storm.
Alongside Leanne were a number of other North West based WAG's including, Carla Kompany, (wife of Manchester City Captain, Vincent Kompany), Hayley Fletcher, (wife of Manchester United player, Darren Fletcher), Jessica Lawlor, (fiancé of former Manchester United player, Stephen Ireland) and Dani Lawrence, (wife of Liverpool goal keeper, Brad Jones). However, the most notable name amongst the bunch is perhaps Coleen Rooney, (wife of Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney). The WAG who has worked with Littlewood's and Asda's George in the past offered not only gave away designer handbags but also a pair of coveted Louboutin heels for the event, (something we imagine, most women would struggle to part with).
When asked about the charitable lunch recently, Coleen said, "It's always nice to help out charities, especially the smaller and lesser-known ones, so I was happy to donate some heels and handbags. I think it's a great thing that Leanne is doing and will raise awareness for a really worthwhile cause".
The event held at Mottram Hall Hotel was initially thought up by Leanne Brown, and this isn't the first charity auction she's held. The Real Housewives of Cheshire star had previously hosted another charity event as well.
Speaking about the events she's held Leanne said, "There are so many worthwhile charities out there but I was really touched by the stories of families who have been directly helped by Once Upon a Smile. I'm so excited to be a patron of the charity and I've really got the fundraising bug now".
As the new patron of the 'Once Upon a Smile' charity it's clear to see that Leanne is taking her role seriously and is using her footballing connections to help the cause. 'Once Upon a Smile', a charity set up to help support families and children who are going through a bereavement by offering both financial aid and 'respite breaks', was initially set up by actors Daniel Jillings and Daniel Miller.
Leanne, who was also joined by her Real Housewives of Cheshire co-stars, Tanya Bardsley and Dawn Ward, will have not only raised thousands for the charity but through the clever idea of a designer clothing and accessory auction, will have also raised awareness for a lesser known but still such a worthy cause. Here at Bag Studio we commend the charitable efforts by the North West based WAG's recently and we think that the event at Mottram Hall Hotel was a fantastic idea.
